Fayette Railroad Tourist Train

Ride the Fayette Central Railroad

The route of the FCRR has a long history. The Fairmont, Morgantown and Pittsburgh Railroad Company operated between Uniontown, Pennsylvania and Fairmont, West Virginia on what became known as the “Sheepskin Route.” There are two stories about the nickname. One is that farmers raised sheep and some would get loose and block the tracks. The second explanation is that Morgantown is home to West Virginia University, where students received their sheepskins (diplomas) when they graduated.

Dunbar is located midway between Uniontown and Connellsville, Pennsylvania one mile off of US Route 119. There is ample parking and the train departs on Saturday runs in Dunbar at 12:30 and returns at 3 PM. Visitors can also board the train at 11 AM and 2 PM in the Laurel Business parking lot in Uniontown. Sunday runs board in Uniontown and goes to Fairchance, PA.
