Visit a Real Coke Oven at the DHS

The beehive coke oven is completed and the beehive dome left visible for visitors to see the beehive oven. (Normally the entire oven would be covered and surrounded by earth or stone.) A fundraiser held in 2010 provided the funding to place a concrete roof around the dome and coat the dome with a preservative to protect it from the “freeze-thaw” cycle. Stone and some building material remain at the site for these future projects. Donations are always welcome!
